Teacher Regulation Decisions
Here are some decisions that I think are helpful to parents who have disabled/neurodivergent children. For a list of all of their decisions go to the TRB decision database.
- Teacher embarrassed kids, made fun of them, made the learnnig environment a toxic, unhealthy, scary place to be. Here is the decision: Frank Weinger
From the decision:
“Student E suffered from anxiety, a fact known to Weniger. Weniger would become exaspterated when Student E fidgeted with their fingers or a small object as a selfsoothing mechanism. Student E reported being afraid that they would be humiliated in class based on Weniger’s treatment of other students. As a result, Student E had frequent panic attacks and often cried in Weniger’s class. Student E reported being afraid to ask to use the washroom in the event that Weniger would humiliate Student E or make fun of Student E in front of the class. Student E subsequently had a mental health crisis, a contributing factor to which was Student E’s experience in Weniger’s classroom.”
“Weniger sometimes laughed and repeated student comments when students did not understand what he was teaching them, causing one student to report feeling embarrassed. On other occasions, Weniger would repeat a student’s mistake out loud
until people laughed.”
. - Teacher lied and helped a teacher cheat. Honesty and integrity of a teacher is important. This person was fired from the district. Whitney
. - Teacher was disciplined for laying their hands on a student when it escalated the situation and wasn’t necessary for safety. ** Very relevant to anyone who has had a teacher do this. Tony Schubert
. - This teacher was suspended because they didn’t follow the IPE and Safety Plan. Teacher was suspended for not following the IEP and Safety Plan.
. - This teacher in the past was disciplined for not following a students safety plan. (See Matter 2)

. - Here is another case that is interesting. The student had a “vulnerable learning profile” and she didn’t create a positive learning environment. https://teacherregulation.gov.bc.ca/documents/FormsandPublications/ProfConduct/DisciplineOutcomes/FRASER_CRA_20230626.pdf
. - This is another example to take into consideration when you file for emotional safety, diversity or lack of inclusion. This example was a conflict of Teacher Standards #1. https://teacherregulation.gov.bc.ca/documents/FormsandPublications/ProfConduct/DisciplineOutcomes/RUSSELL_CRA_20240624.pdf
. - Here is an example of an LSS teacher, not updating a students IEP and forcing them to stay in at recess causing a physical injury. https://teacherregulation.gov.bc.ca/documents/FormsandPublications/ProfConduct/DisciplineOutcomes/SCHWARZ_CRA_20240925.pdf
. - This one is about a principal thinking it’s a good idea to duct tape a child to a chair to help them focus on their work. Renee MacCormack
